Best Wool Blankets

People choose wool blankets for a variety of reasons, including to have a more natural blanket, a warmer one, a heavier duty blanket or for a combination of all of those reasons. Whatever reason you land on, it is important to keep in mind that some blankets made by wool are a bit more scratchy than others.

Though I personally prefer blankets made of 100% wool, the ones that are mixed with even a low percent of a second material will allow them to be washed more easily. You can of course hand wash or dry clean as needed, but machine washing is usually much more easy to do.

Wool blankets are very warm, and still very thin so you are not toting a giant blanket around with you, but you are still getting the warmth you want and need. The blankets are also usually pretty heavy, again still very thin, but give you the feeling that you are being snuggled in tightly.

There are five different blankets on this list, but take a look at my number one before reading down and find the one best for you.

Editor’s Choice for Best Wool Blankets

Editor’s Choice
Poyet Motte wool blanket
I like this blanket because it is very warm, sturdy and comfortable and it is available in multiple sizes and can even be taken with you. It is also available:
FEATURES
  • In gentle colors
  • In 100% wool
  • And easy to care for

Special considerations for compiling this list

  • High wool percentage: Not every blanket is exactly 100% wool because a lot of 100% wool blankets cannot be washed easily. Though the blankets may not be fully wool, they are made of at least 80% wool, the other materials involved are slightly synthetic and will allow you to care for the blanket better.
  • Durable: I personally do not like to buy blankets that I know will unravel and shed all over the place or ones that will fall apart easily. I selected wool blankets that will hold up to daily and nightly use and will not be needing to be replaced often.
  • Very warm: If you have decided on purchasing a wool blanket then you probably have your sights set on a warm blanket that will last you through the winter. Each blanket listed here is extremely warm and keeps the heat locked in.
  • Cost efficient: Some wool blankets run a little bit more expensive because they are made of wool and are more natural. Though some options here are truly expensive, they are worth the price you are paying for what you will get.
  • Washable: Like I said, washing wool blankets can be a hassle and can be impossible, even ruining the material. The ones I found for myself and for you are either safe for machine washing, or can be hand washed or machine dry cleaned to keep them fresh.

EKTOS wool blanket

This blanket by Ektos is relatively cheap, only costing around thirty dollars for 66×90 blanket that is warm and heavy and will give you the feeling of being snuggled in. Because the blanket is only 90% wool, the synthetic 10% allows for the blanket to have a little stretch, flexibility and to be able to be machine washed, though I do advise you to try washing it by hand more often to keep up the quality.

Though some wool blankets are rather scratchy and uncomfortable, that is not the case for this blanket, it is soft and feels good against the skin. The blanket comes in one color, a slate grey that is fashionable and natural, which is appreciated when you consider that dye is not added and other harsh chemicals are avoided as well.

Ektos’ blankets are all natural, so they are safe to have even around small children and babies and durable as well. The wool is naturally flame retardant, and resistant to mildew and mold as well.
